The site has been a clay shooting ground for many years, under different ownerships. Cambridge Gun Club was formed in May 2010 by Mick & Karen Hodson. Since taking over the ground Mick & Karen have undertaken some major changes to improve the facility. Their long term goal is to create a unique and exceptional facility in the heart of Cambridgeshire.

The ground is set in 47 acres, and is currently under an improvement programme. We have planted a “woodland” at the ground covering 5.7 hectares, and hope to see an amazing transformation of that area of the ground in around 2020. In the meantime, we are continually improving the grounds appearance and capabilities with an on-going introduction of new and interesting stands and layouts. The end goal shall be to create two full courses of different ability levels (black & red course).

We currently operate 15 Sporting stands, all of which use commercial Promatic automatic traps. Within these stands, we have multiple traps offering up to 8 targets on one layout, giving a huge variety on one stand if you don’t fancy a walk. We also have a skeet range and 4 Down The Line (DTL) layouts (voice release). All stands offer a solo delay facility. We regularly hold Registered ESP and DTL events along with our open practice days, please see our calendar for full fixtures.

Our targets are changed regularly, as we believe it is the quality of targets that makes a ground, but we always offer starter/training layouts through to “pro” sporting layouts. All the usual targets are offered including going away, driven, teal, battues, crossers, incomers, quartering, loopers and rabbits. CCI clays are used at the ground utilising a variety of coloured standard clays (black, orange, green, pink & white), along with midi, mini and battue clays to make things interesting.

From all of us at Cambridge Gun Club - Thank you and Happy Shooting !
